Secure Your Enterprise With McAfee Proactive Threat
Protection Today's blended threats are smarter and faster
than ever before. At the same time, IT staffs are tasked with
protecting more devices than ever before. The result is a growing
"window of vulnerability" between the appearance of a new threat and
an organization's ability to deploy a fix for that threat. Proactive
Threat Protection secures your network from new threats IN
ADVANCE—closing the window of vulnerability. Click here for more information.

The 4240 McAfee Scan Engine—Protecting Against The
Latest Threats Anti-virus protection is only as good as its
last update! More than 200 new threats appear every month and if
you're not up-to-date, you are vulnerable to any one of them that
gets a foothold in the field. However, updated DATs—containing the
"what to look for" information on all of these threats—is only part
of the solution. It's equally important to update your scan engine.
The nature of the threat changes over time. New types of threat
appear, new file-types become vulnerable, applications and operating
systems are updated. The engine understands all the different
structures in which a virus could lurk. The 4240 scan engine was
released on 24 February as an engine-only SuperDAT package. The
first combined DAT and engine SuperDAT package will be released on
26 March. Make sure that you benefit from the latest McAfee scanning
technology! Click here to download the 4240 scan engine.

industry partnerships with leaders such as Texas Instruments and

Boosting the Effectiveness of Applications and
Services Around the Globe Using the McAfee scan engine SDK
[Software Developers Kit] application and managed service providers
can integrate the McAfee scan engine directly into their own
solutions, greatly enhancing their own offering to their customers.
The speed at which today's threats spread and their potential impact
in economic terms, have led many customers to expect protection from
today's malicious code to be included in such services
automatically. The McAfee scan engine SDK makes it easy for Network
Associates' partners to deliver the advanced protection their
customers demand. Click here for further information.

Tip of the Month—Locking Down Your Anti-Virus
Settings Centralized management and enforcement of anti-virus
policy is the key to solving this simple problem faced by our
customers on a daily basis. ePolicy Orchestrator, with the input
from many worldwide customers, has been designed as a solution to
help administrators maintain and manage their anti-virus policy from
one central location. To prevent accidental or deliberate changes to
anti-virus settings, ePolicy Orchestrator includes several
safeguards that can be set and managed from one central console. It
allows anti-virus software to run "silently" on a desktop by
providing administrators with the ability to hide the respective
tray icons and, as an added layer of security, password protect the
settings. Additionally, constant reinforcement of policy can be set
to occur at regular intervals. This ensures that any changes made,
outside of policy, are automatically and seamlessly corrected,
including re-installation of anti-virus software that has been
removed or disabled. However, reinforcement of policy does not
always require communication with a central server as policy will be
maintained at a local PC level even when not connected to the
network. This is of particular importance for remote or mobile
users. Click here for more information.
